Get a phone number for your shop

Choose a UK, Irish or US number in Settings, included in your plan.

Updated 24 Oct 2026

You choose a phone number for your shop yourself in Settings → Phone & voice: pick a UK, Irish or US number and select Get this number. Your plan includes one or more numbers, so you do not need an account with a phone company.

Before you start

  • Your plan must be paid. Until it is, you will see Pay for your plan first — your number comes with it.
  • You need permission to manage phone settings. Owners and administrators have it.

Choose a number

  1. Open Settings → Phone & voice, or the Phone and WhatsApp step of the guided setup.
  2. In the Phone numbers card you can see how many numbers your plan includes and how many are in use.
  3. Choose a Country: United Kingdom, Ireland or United States.
  4. Choose the Kind of number: Local (area code) or Mobile.
  5. If you want, narrow the search with Area code (optional) or Contains (optional), for example with digits you would like in the number.
  6. Select Find numbers.
  7. Pick a number from the list and select Get this number.

The number is added to your account straight away and appears in your list of numbers.

Which kind of number to choose

  • If you want to send payment links by text message, choose a mobile number. Most UK local (01 and 02) numbers can take calls but cannot send or receive texts.
  • If customers already know you by a local number, a local number in the same area code feels familiar.

When you have used all your numbers

If you see All your included numbers are in use, your plan's allowance is used up. To get more numbers, change to a plan with a bigger allowance in Settings → Billing. See Change your plan.

If numbers are not available

If you see Phone numbers are not available right now, we have already been told about the problem. Please try again later, or contact us if it carries on.
